Terms, Conditions & Liabilities

1. About our service

surveyit.uk is an independent damp, timber and thermal imaging surveying service. We inspect properties, record findings, and provide written reports. We do not carry out remedial building works, damp-proofing installations or treatment works, and we have no affiliation with any contractor who may subsequently be instructed to undertake such work.

2. Booking, access and cancellation

An appointment is confirmed once a date, time and property address have been agreed by both parties. You must provide safe, unrestricted access to the property and the areas to be inspected. If we attend an appointment and access is not available, the survey fee remains payable in full.

Cancellations made with less than 24 hours' notice may be charged at our discretion. Where a deposit has been taken, it may be retained to cover administrative costs and lost appointment time.

3. Scope of the survey

The scope of our inspection is agreed before attendance. A standard damp survey covers visually accessible areas, moisture profiling, and thermal imaging where appropriate. We do not remove fixtures, lift fitted floor coverings, dismantle structures, or inspect areas that are unsafe, inaccessible, or concealed. We will note any limitations in the report.

4. Reports and reliance

Reports are based on the condition of the property at the time of inspection and the information provided to us. They are prepared for the named client and the stated purpose only. Reports must not be reproduced, distributed, or relied upon by third parties without our prior written consent.

Our reports are professional opinions based on evidence gathered during the inspection. They do not guarantee future performance of the building or guarantee that no defects exist beyond the scope of the inspection.

5. Liability

surveyit.uk accepts liability only for loss or damage that is directly caused by our proven negligence, and only up to the total fee paid for the specific survey in question. We do not accept liability for:

• defects or issues that were concealed, inaccessible, or outside the agreed scope of inspection;
• loss of profit, business interruption, or consequential losses of any kind;
• decisions made, or costs incurred, by third parties based on the report;
• works carried out by contractors or specialists recommended or instructed following the survey;
• damage caused by the condition of the property, structural movement, or pre-existing defects.

Nothing in these terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded by law.

6. Recommendations and third-party contractors

Where we recommend further investigation or specialist input, this is for the client's information only. We do not guarantee the work, pricing, availability, or suitability of any third-party contractor, and we are not responsible for any contract or dispute between the client and a third party.

7. Complaints

If you are dissatisfied with any aspect of our service, please contact us in writing at dampsolutions1990@gmail.com within 14 days of receiving the report. We will respond within 14 days and aim to resolve the matter promptly.

8. Data protection

We collect only the personal information necessary to provide the survey and report. Details are stored securely and are not shared with third parties except where required to deliver the service or comply with legal obligations. You may request a copy of the information we hold about you at any time.

9. Governing law

These terms and any dispute arising from our services are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and the parties submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.

10. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The terms that apply to your booking are those in force at the date of the survey appointment.
